5 Must-Have Trends from Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion Week has just wrapped, leaving behind a plethora of great designs from Chanel, Christian Dior, Balenciaga and more. However, one of the trickiest parts of any fashion week is sifting through the catwalk in search of the right takeaway looks for upcoming seasons. Not to worry, LadyLUX did the work for you. Straight from the runways of Paris, we found five must-have trends for fall and winter 2013.
First there was the shoulder pad, then there was the asymmetrical shoulder, now there is the cocoon shoulder—a silhouette that rounds around the shoulder, rather than jutting out from it. This look of a softer, rounder shoulder was spotted on Chanel, Mugler, Stella McCartney, Carver, Cèline and more and adds a feeling of modern artistry and high fashion to almost any winter look.
Pink is not a color that is seen often on fall and winter runways, but this year it was everywhere. Whether it was bright, as in Dries Van Noten show, or a soft shade as seen in Saint Laurent and Cèline, pink was spotted on nearly every runway, adding a pretty perk to most collections. Paired with leather thigh-high boots and often found in tweed, it blended seamlessly with Chanel’s “good girl gone bad” vibe and in the Saint Laurent collection, it gave a much needed reprieve from the 90’s grunge-inspired designs. While pink may not be new black this season, it may just be the new camel and is definitely a color that needs to be added to your winter and fall 2013 wardrobe.
When most think of plaid, Parisian fashion is not the first thing that comes to mind. However, the runways were littered with all types of colors and variations of this print. From Stella McCartney’s use of it on large, oversized outerwear to Cèline’s mix-matching the print for tops and bottoms, it was seen dressed up and dressed down.
When winter and fall 2013 comes around, gone will be the days of perfectly hemmed and tailored trousers. Instead, the “it” look for pants are wide, roomy trousers that look less feminine and more masculine. While the trend is undoubtedly nodding to menswear, the upside is that these trousers are über comfy.
There’s nothing we love more than when fashion and art fuse together. In this fall and winter 2013 collection, creative director Raf Simons paid homage to Christian Dior’s history as a gallerist by embroidering clothes with 1950’s Andy Warhol Collection. While including literal art works was not frequently seen on the runways, it was a trend that some of the big wigs of fashion including Christian Dior and Givenchy included in their collections.
Though it's sad to see Paris, New York, London and Milan fashion weeks come to a close, we couldn't be more excited to see the fashion come to life on the streets this fall and winter.
