Inspired by the traditions of Southeast Asia and Bali, husband and wife team Karen Matossian and Ken Ken Hogenauer along with daughter Taylor Cole, created the accessories line TLC&you. The name not only reflects Taylor’s initials, but also the tender loving care that is put into each handcrafted piece of functional art.

TLC&you is a collection of distinctive pieces that compliments beach attire and speaks to simplicity and leisure. The brand features woven products including handbags and wallets, adorned belts, sunhats, rayon sarongs and beaded jewelry. Karen, the lead designer, meticulously develops each piece with the creative input of Ken and Taylor and ideas from the island.

“We are inspired by all that tickles the senses in Bali: the lush nature, the smell of incense and cloves, the striking architecture and particularly the handmade handicrafts,” Taylor shared.

As the accessories are inspired and designed in Bali, they are also produced there with the help of talented, creative artisans. Prior to launching the line, the family spent 15 years wholesaling women’s accessories from Bali. They developed friendships with Balinese manufacturers who have enjoyed a better quality of life due to their business relationships. Each authentic product is made with organic materials and crafted by local people who work at home in their village.

“The pieces in the Kaya Collection are handmade from a reed that grows abundantly in Indonesia. The reed is stripped and moistened then hand woven. It can take weeks to make one of these bags,” said Taylor.

The family prides themselves on creating natural, unique products, using only the highest quality materials without compromising on price, and also ensuring the natural fiber line respects the environment.

Creating TLC&you has brought the family closer than ever as they collaborate as business partners and travel frequently to Bali.

“Working with Taylor is a gift,” Karen shared. “We are honest with each other and respect each other’s strengths. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don’t, but there is always a middle ground.”

“We have always gotten along extremely well and have an amazing relationship with a strong balance of mother/daughter and friend. Now we threw business partner and colleagues into the mix and it works!” said Taylor.

TLC&you aspires to be a one-stop shop for the sun-seeking woman who has a love for nature-inspired accessories. The brand can currently be found in Gump’s catalog; resort shops at Hotel Del Coronado, La Costa Resort and Spa, Wailea Resort and The Arizona Biltmore; as well as their newly launched website.
