Spring 2012 Color Trends: Color pop

When the sun is shining brightly, there’s no better way to celebrate than to wear playful pops of color. Maybe the idea isn’t completely novel, but thanks to a few designers including Marc Jacobs and Sass and Bide, vibrant shades brought a new source of energy to traditionally conservative pieces. In Mulberry and Jil Sander’s story, the color punch gave sporty pieces a refreshingly modern point of view. Either way, no Spring 2012 wardrobe is complete without at least one go-to piece of eye-catching pink, electrifying yellow or prismatic turquoise!

Perhaps one of the most popular pops of color this Spring season is neon citrus yellow and Rebecca Taylor’s v-neck dress is on board. The silk dress is light and airy with draped panels and raw edges. Imagine a delightful day shopping at the flea market or lunch with the boyfriend in this cheerful number. Create a monochrome look by adding neon flats or infuse a safari style by complementing with woven sandals.

Rebecca Minkoff’s mini mac clutch will have you thinking pink – neon pink that is! The leather handbag features a spring-lock flap and silver hardware. This season, pink is at its best when united with green or orange. So team the clutch with a tangerine shift dress or a green mixed-media necklace.

Can’t decide on just one color? Then maybe Alice + Olivia’s multicolor striped button-down is the answer. The silk blouse marries captivating shades with a neutral tan for the perfect amount of excitement. For a Spring essence, pair with white shorts or skinny jeans and complete with colorless pumps to let the multicolor take center stage.

In an exhilarating shade of turquoise, Rag and Bone’s single button blazer embodies the lively spirit of the season. The blazer can go from the office to dinner with an easy switch of elements. For the office, layer over a delicate blouse and pencil skirt. Take the look to a dressy dinner by contrasting with an all white or all black ensemble. Finish the look with an unexpected matching clutch.

Vinyl and orange? McQ Alexander McQueen’s kingsland tote has it all! The chic handbag features button strap details and double handles for easy carrying. The bag may be vinyl but that doesn’t mean it’s just for the beach. Take the tote everywhere from lunch to an art exhibit and let its coolness bleed into your outfit.

To infuse a hint of yellow in every outfit, style with Juicy Couture’s statement bib necklace. The silver-plated piece boasts faceted rhinestones, glass beads and an unconventional ribbon-tie closure. The chic necklace can be combined with bold tops to fully seize the theme or play the part as the burst of color in a mellow outfit.

B Brian Atwood pumps are some serious footwear and, in a vivacious turquoise, they have star power written all over them. Towering at an impressive 5.5 inches, this sweet suede style exhibits a metallic scale texture at the covered stiletto and double platform. Work these pumps with a pair of tattered jeans for an effortless look or go edgy-girly and assemble with a black and white floral miniskirt. No matter what they are styled with, these Atwoods will do all the talking.
