Resort 2013: T by Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang’s lower-priced staples, collected in T by Alexander Wang, have taken a further turn into the sporty field. While there were varsity-esque jackets and neoprene material in Fall 2012’s collection, Wang dove into the theme this season with silhouettes that could work for the gym or as part of the modern chic wardrobe he intended.

T by Alexander Wang Resort’s basic must-haves fell into the range of sweatshirt hoodies, skinny pants, neoprene dresses and, for the first time, swimwear. Sweatshirts aren’t usually on the list of stylish items but Wang gave them his magical dose of cool, introducing suede –and knitted versions paired unexpectedly with miniskirts. Also paired with the skirts were perfectly oversized v-neck and turtleneck sweaters. Skinny pants were well fitted in leather options and back for another season, while sweatpants hit their fashion pinnacle in suede paired with heeled sandals. Fall’s neoprene material continued into Resort with flared dresses complete with contrasted collars and zippers and a cropped baseball jacket.

The line’s new selection of swimwear blended in with the apparel, easily creating the &ddquo;sports bra look” made popular in the ‘90s. Wang’s reinvented one-pieces, bandeaus and triangle styles had notes of mesh, complementing the theme.

The lower-priced line has without a doubt grown and evolved since its Spring 2011 inception. T by Alexander Wang, once-upon-a-time a T-shirt line, has quickly turned into a covetable collection with well-thought-out classic pieces that you never knew you needed and that will certainly last a few seasons – or possibly more.
