Neiman Marcus Fall 2012 trends
Always at the forefront of fashion, Neiman Marcus sets the bar for Fall 2012 with must-have trends. This season, the luxury department store is spotlighting the hottest colors, accessories, footwear and themes that every wardrobe needs.
Navy is the new neutral this Fall. The nearly black shade of blue emerges across categories as a chic alternative with the option to pair with brights or staple colors. In handbags, Prada presents the classic Spazzolato tote with polished calfskin while Nicholas Kirkwood enters the navy scene with a suede bootie trimmed with luxurious feathers. Showing the glamorous side of the blue tone, Robert Rodriguez goes bold in a sequin sleeveless dress with a deep V-neckline. Alice and Olivia dazzled up the Bettie long-sleeve knit with rhinestones.
Navy isn’t the only trending color. Playing with Mixed Greens spruces up autumn ensembles. The earth tone works solo or in a combination of shades. From emerald to forest, green is more versatile than imagined. Tory Burch demonstrates with the Katie tie-waist coat crafted from soft, warm boucle layered over the Saffield sleeveless tweed-print tie-neck blouse. Alexander McQueen displays the stunning color with the knife-pleated tunic completed with stand collar frames and a plunging neckline. Green takes an unexpected lux twist with exotic skins in accessories and footwear. Nancy Gonzalez amps up the interest with a teal leopard print calf hair tote bag complemented with a similar shade of crocodile skin. B Brian Atwood’s fontane pump shines in a metallic emerald snake-embossed leather.
Digital prints are the most modern of its kind. The unique, unpredictable patterns come in an array of colors and are often juxtaposed together. Oscar de la Renta created chic with a printed, quilted crepe de chine coat; Helmut Lang’s eye-catching oxide print jersey dress embodies an industrial vibe; and McQ Alexander McQueen offers an exuberant colorful bird print on a tunic-tee. On a classic sheath silhouette, Roberto Cavalli impresses with an aqua and purple dragon print.
The Smoking Slipper is the most stylish of flats. The lux loafer is captivating with a variety of materials, trim details, toecaps and embellishments this Fall. Making a clear statement for dressed up or down looks, Yves Saint Laurent blends bold red suede with a gold cap toe. Donald J Pliner gives the comfortable option a roaring twist with leopard print calf hair while Cole Haan stays classic with black suede trimmed with blue grosgrain and Jimmy Choo is glitzy with a glittered version.
Borrowed from the Boys illustrates a modern and feminine take on menswear that plays on tweed, colorful tuxedos, herringbone and typical masculine silhouettes. Dolce and Gabbana confirms the trend with sequin and patent leather lace-up oxfords. Kate Spade flirts with menswear by adding traditional tweed to the ladylike Carnegie Hall Sloan shoulder bag. DSquared2 plays with menswear shapes by pairing a long printed velvet blazer with a poplin button-front blouse and glam rock boyfriend jeans. Brunello Cucinelli ventures down the same path but with a casual combination of a lightweight flannel jacket, slouchy silk hooded top and equestrian-inspired suede jodhpur pants.
