MFW: Gucci and Alberta Ferretti S/S 14
Milan Fashion Week is rolling out some of the most iconic designers this week. Collections are dripping in bright colors, flowing silhouettes and bold prints. Both Gucci and Alberta Ferretti caught the fashion world’s eyes as they opened the S/S 14 runways in Milan.
Gucci channeled both sparkle and sport with their S/S 14 collection. A heavy play on metallics were key to the sporty sex appeal. Copper, cranberry, goldenrod, green and magenta were the key pop colors in the collection. Deep v-necklines exposed sheer, strappy bras underneath dresses. Drop waistlines touched on the sporty boyfriend feel, while elongated fringe details and rope belting kept the collection playful. Vibrant geometric prints graced the sides of tracksuits, giving them an in-motion feel. We can’t wait to add a little sparkle to our sporty side next spring.
Alberta Ferretti’s S/S 14 collection was dripping in traditional Mexican inspired garments. Heavy satin skirts were embracing South American influenced stripes. Tops and dresses were embellished in embroidered floral prints. Tiers of chiffon layered down the body, creating playful skirts that were paired with crop tops. Lace and sheer fabrics took on a softer side to the bright collection. Primary colors and bright fuchsia brought the black and white collection to life.
