Spring 2014: Shades of Pastel
Sugary Sweet Hues to Wear this Season.
Spring has sprung with shades of pastel hues. Before jumping into palettes of shockingly bright colors, hone in and style your favorite pastel color or colors together. Spring/Summer 2014 collections featured sugary shades of pastel such as grapefruit and sky blue. Here are four must-have pastel colors this season.
Pucker up to a lemon sherbet shade of yellow; designer Rochas showcased a simple statement coat in this cheerful hue. Although Rochas' coat shimmered with a metallic sheen, the yellow color could stand on its own. For an easygoing look, pair this color with light-washed denim and sneakers or sandals; for a more polished look, style this color with all white or light neutrals such as beige and tan.
Jil Sander/ Fluted Full-Back Jacket, Satin Bandeau & Cropped Satin Pants
If you're not a fan of orange or pink, a grapefruit-inspired color is a viable option this spring. The color has a citrus-like undertone without being too bright but still provides a great pop of color. Designer Raoul utilized this hue with a ravishing one-shoulder Greek goddess-like gown. This color is bold worn poolside as swimwear or a cover up, and it is an instant pick me up if you're in a styling rut because it is sure to brighten your day. Also try styling prints with this grapefruit color.

Jason Wu/ Daphne Suede Clutch Bag
The spring runways were sprinkled with the delicate hue of violet. More in the blue color family than purple, this color is begging to be in your closet. There's a whimsical but strong essence about this shade and it is captivating as a chiffon dress or worn as a structured blazer or dress pant. This violet color also make black and white prints pop.
Gucci/ Nouveau Leather Fringe Shoulder Bag
A pastel color palette is not complete without a shade of blue, so explore styling sky blue into your wardrobe. It's naturally a soothing color and will work well on its own as a dress or try pairing a matching top and bottom for a monochromatic look like designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista did on the runway.
