LadyLUX: How did you two get into blogging and why?

Nicki: (Just a note, I am the sole blogger for My Style Diaries. It was originally formed with a partner who is no longer involved, but I decided to keep the tone of the blog consistent after her departure.) I've always followed several fashion blogs and worked with fashion bloggers through my former job as a fashion publicist. After leaving the PR world, I really loved the idea of starting my own blog as a creative outlet and fun side project. At the very least I thought it could be a great addition to my resume as I was applying for jobs in the fashion industry at the time. It has since become my career and main focus.

LL: How would you describe your personal style?

N: For me, comfort really is key. I live in loose knits, booties or moccasins and tons of jewelry. Accessorizing is definitely my favorite part of getting dressed, and I believe that great jewelry can turn something as simple as a t-shirt dress into a pulled-together look.

LL: Whats your strategy with your blog in general?

N: My Style Diaries was formed with the idea of allowing (and encouraging!) readers to write in with their personal style dilemmas. The basic strategy remains to answer readers' questions with unique and wearable solutions, and I try to keep looks reasonably affordable. (OK, admittedly sometimes I get excited by a pair of shoes with a slightly higher price tag, but I try to pair them with cheaper finds. Life's all about balance, right?) I also try to vary the site's content, from casual to dressy looks and both flat posts and personal style posts.

LL: What’s your favorite trend of 2012?

N: The colors! Especially neons - so fun for spring!

LL: Share something your readers might not know about you

N: I was born and raised in Louisiana and go back as often as possible.

LL: What is your favorite part about creating content for the “My Style Diaries”?

N: When gathering looks for my posts, I feel like it's my duty to shop as many online retailers as possible to see what's new, so in a sense, online shopping is part of my job. I love that! I also get really excited when I find things that I know my readers will love.

LL: What would you like to accomplish or create in 2012?

N: My goal is to keep my readers happy with new and different content. I'd love to do more personal style posts, designer interviews, giveaways and brand spotlights, while still answering reader questions. I'd love to do more personal styling and perhaps look into a few brand collaborations, if the fit is right. The sky really is the limit.
