Why You Should Be Sugaring

The new form of hair removal has been getting a lot of buzz. While waxing has long been the go-to form for hair removal, sugaring doesn’t contain the same chemicals as waxing. If you’re looking for a more natural hair removal process and are curious about sugaring, here are five reasons you should give it a try.

Why You Should Be Sugaring

All Natural:
Unlike other harsh hair removal processes, the ingredients in sugaring are all natural. While there are often chemicals within the wax, with sugaring there are only a few ingredients: sugar, water and lemon juice. You can have a fun DIY project or head to a professional for treatment.

It Won’t Burn Skin:
We’ve all experienced the heat that comes with waxing and the redness that can accompany it. With sugaring, you won’t need to worry about burning your skin and you won’t end up a lovely shade of red. When you sugar, the paste is applied at room temperature, assuring that you will not be burned.

Why You Should Be Sugaring

Less Breakage:
It’s no surprise that waxing is pretty harsh on the skin and who wants to deal with annoying ingrown hairs? Since waxing can lead to more breakage, the results are more ingrown hairs. With sugaring, the hair is removed at the shaft, resulting in a better, and more gentle, removal process.

Removes Short Hairs:
At least three weeks is needed between waxes so that the hair can grow back long enough to be removed. Sugaring gives you the ability to remove hairs when they reach a 1/16”, whereas waxing needs at least ¼” of growth.

Easy Clean Up:
Waxing is mess, but all that’s needed with sugaring is water. You won’t leave a sugaring treatment feeling sticky and you won’t have trouble removing any leftover ingredients. Waxing can have a difficult clean-up process and you often leave the salon feeling a bit sticky, or at the very least, oily from the removal process.
