Zara expands presence in Japan with new online shopping platform
Fashion retailer Zara has branched into e-commerce in Japan. Zara.com will offer the entire women’s, men’s and children’s apparel lines sold in its brick-and-mortar stores to Japanese customers, reported Retail in Asia.
The new Japanese shopping platform represents Zara’s first digital shopping venture into Asia. Zara already has a strong presence in the Asian country, with 71 stores across more than 35 cities in Japan, including flagships in prime fashion areas such as Shibuya, Harajuku, Ginza, Shinjuku, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto and Fukuoka.
Zara has operated stores in Japan since 1998, when it launched its first shop in Shibuya, Tokyo. The company chose Tokyo for its preeminence in the international fashion industry.
