Royalty India Hicks branches out to jewelry

India Hicks seems to have it all. As designer and friend Jonathan Alder notes, according to WWD, she is gorgeous, has a fantastic partner, four wonderful kids, works as a model, lives in the Bahamas and has, in general, a “spectacularly fab” life. But she has never had her own jewelry collection – until now.

Launching in May and this fall, the India Hicks collection consists of three lines: Initials, Hicks on Hicks and Island Life. Created though a partnership with M. Suresh, the fifth-largest De Beers site holder across the globe, the pieces retail from $200 to $6,000.

The first collection, Island Life, features silver and diamonds in organic motifs, and, of course, island themes. Due to her famous father’s influence, Hicks on Hicks is full of retro, geometric patterns with silver, gold and diamond medallions.

“I’ve done fragrance, I’ve done houses, I’ve done books, I’ve done island life. I’ve never done jewelry,” Hicks told WWD. “I design, definitely. I’m amateur but under my father’s very imposing eye, by osmosis, I’m very strong in my sensibility — what I like and what I don’t like.”

Hicks, the daughter of famed English designer David Hicks, could be considered design royalty and of royal blood – she is connected to Prince Charles, and the Earl and Countess Mountbatten of Burma. She was even a bridesmaid at Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s wedding.

Hicks’ days are filled with modeling, producing design books, working at her clothing store the Sugar Mill Trading Company and producing a television special on the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
