Go Glamping for a Luxurious Outdoor Experience
Unplug and get back to nature
If you love the outdoors and nature, but you don't love burnt hot dogs and uncomfortable sleeping bags, then glamping is for you. This new trend combines camping and glamour for a truly luxurious outdoor experience.
Most glamping resorts offer in-house chefs, concierge service and soft beds with pristine linens so that you can “rough it” without getting your hands dirty.
Pop-Up Glamping
TerraVelo Tours is setting up pop-up glamping on the lush grounds of Pope Valley Winery from mid-November and through January There will be nine beautiful five star luxury safari tents (as seen in the image to the right) with two unique types of glamping vacations - a four day Napa Weekend Escape or a five day Holiday Glamping Celebration over Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's.
During the stay, guests are taken care or from the moment they arrive at the campgrounds to the moment they depart. A personal chef and sous chef will join guests on the journey and cook each meal. Meals are either served in a communal tent or under the stars al fresco style. Gourmet s'mores will also be served by the fireside. David Eakle of Pope Valley Winery will also educate guests about wine and will make sure that everyone's glass is topped up.
Other highlights of the weekend include hiking, wine tasting, blacksmith demonstrations, truffle hunting, star gazing, biking, wine blending, cooking classes and olive oil tasting.
Dude Ranch Glamping
Westgate River Ranch, an authentic dude ranch just one hour south of Orlando, is one of the best spots to go glamping, with extensive amenities, outdoor recreation activities including horseback riding, zip lines, golf and swamp buggy rides.
The ranch's glamping sites are set on platforms in a beautiful wooded area with spacious, fully furnished and air-conditioned canvas tents. In addition, the glamping sites include a key to a private bathroom facility with shower. You'll also have a personal glamping concierge service that caters to guests' every whim, eliminates the need for guests to worry about traditional camping chores, and allows glampers to instead relax and revel in an outdoor adventure under the stars.
The ranch itself is on one of last untouched pieces of Florida wilderness and guests can return to the days of “Old Florida” when the state was home to cowboys and cattle ranchers. The ranch, which lies on 1,700 acres overlooking the scenic Kissimmee River, completed a multi-million dollar renovation in October 2013 and features horseback riding and even a Saturday night rodeo.
Wildlife Glamping
Combine wild animals with glamping at Safari West, located at the north end of Napa Valley, just outside the town of Calistoga. Here among beautifully cared for African wildlife, you can experience the ultimate in glamping outside of the actual Serengeti.
Safari West's luxury tents are imported from Africa and are built on high wooden platforms with spacious decks. Pale green canvas walls enclose plush beds, hot showers and rustic but elegant trappings. There are polished wood floors, gleaming copper basins in the private bathrooms and one-of-a kind hand hewn furniture.
Keep in mind that this is an actual wildlife preserve. You will be surrounded by conditions very close to a natural habitat in Africa. You will likely hear noises from the animals as they eat, socialize and go about their daily and nightly activities. There may be noises from particularly vocal animals at night, like the flamingos or the Sarus crane, and we hope you will embrace these situations as part of the unique experience of staying at a wildlife preserve.
