2013 has shaped up to be a prime year in New York City hospitality with its long list of brand new hotels now open to travelers. Here are the five most anticipated very new and very noteworthy hotels that people have been waiting on since 2012. Taking inspiration from the city’s past and giving nod to its future, The Jade, The Refinery, High Line Hotel, NYLO and the Quin exemplify the best hospitality features that make up a pristine New York City hotel through design and ambiance.

Situated in a former hat factory in the Garment District of the city, The Refinery captures the district’s evolution with its preserved, ornate neo-Gothic designs and detailing inside. Its 197 rooms offer guests a slight industrial feel with concrete ceilings, worn-in hardwood flooring, sewing-machine desks and scissor-designed carpeting for an old-time feel.

Having opened just last May, the High Line Hotel in Chelsea’s nightlife-oriented neighborhood has certainly made a name for itself quickly. The hotel resides in a Neo-Gothic 1895 red-brick building which possesses 60 guest rooms that retain their original design, with some offering views of the High Line. Each room’s eclectic mix of dated furnishings offer guests a quaint feel in addition to shaded gardens and courtyards that make for a quiet escape from the bustling city.
NYLO

Getting its name from “New York Loft,” the classy hotel chain, NYLO, has now added a location in the Upper West Side. Set in an early-1900s apartment building, it highlights period details like original ceiling ornaments and a large fireplace in the hotel’s library. Each of the 298 lofty rooms boasts local art on its walls and picturesque views of the Hudson River and the city. The entire hotel channels New York City’s Jazz era, but mostly its LOCL bar with a piano, rich wood paneling and old-fashioned cocktails.
The Quin
